FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions and answers:

How often and when do you meet?
We meet once per month usually on the first Tuesday of the month. In January and April we meet the second Tuesday due to school schedules. Meetings start at 8:30 am and end at 11:00am.

Is there a cost to attend?
Your first meeting is always free. Come try us out and see what you think with no commitment. Otherwise, the annual dues to MOPS, International are $25 per year. Our local chapter fees are $5 per meeting. At 9 meetings per year this all adds up to $70 per year. Receive a $10 discount by paying the whole year in advance. We also offer scholarships to any mom who needs it.

Is childcare provided?
Yes! We provide free child care at every meeting so that you can enjoy some mom-only time. You will check your child into his or her room when you arrive. All of our childcare workers are volunteers that are carefully hand-selected by the steering team. You are also welcome to take your newborn (up to 6 months) child with you into the meeting.

What do you do at a meeting?
Glad you asked! Here's a breakdown: You will check yourself and your child(ren) in when you arrive. Drop your child(ren) off in childcare room(s). You will then go to the fellowship hall where we treat you to a wonderful breakfast consisting of coffe, tea, juice, baked goods, egg dishes, fruits, etc. We will have an opening prayer, announcements, and ice breaker games and giveaways. Then there is either a guest speaker or presentation. You will then have follow-up discussion questions in your assigned group. We finish up with a fun and quick craft for you. And there is always plenty of time for talking with and making new friends!

Where do you meet?
We meet at Lamar Christian Church at 811 S. Main Street in Lamar, CO. If you have come before, please note that this is a NEW location for us this year.

How can I get more involved?
Just ask! We are always looking for more volunteers to make all this happen. You can help behind the scenes or right up front. We need help setting up for meetings and well as cleaning up after. There is always prep to be done beforehand for both the mom craft and the Moppets craft. What about leading a discussion group? We need new discussion group leaders every year. Interested in assisting one of the steering team members? Whether you are interested in crafts, publicity, hospitality, or any other area, we will find a way to get you involved! Just ask!

What will my child be doing while I am in my meeting?
We should first note that your children will only be given a snack and not a full breakfast like you. So please make sure they eat before coming. Depending on age children are divided into 3 rooms. The baby room is newborn to crawling. The toddler room is walking - 2 years. And finally the preschool room is 2-4 years. The babies will be well-loved and hugged! There are plenty of soft toys and mats, as well as swings and rocking chairs. They will receive a small snack if you allow. The toddlers have a variety of toys to play with, snack, and may watch videos too. They may also go outside for play if weather permits. The preschoolers will have a lesson and matching craft, free play time, outside time per weather, and snack.
